boundaries
as my audience grows, i get approached by more and more people who want to get to know me. i really don't do well being the centre of attention and i'm not good at keeping up with all the people who wanna talk to me, i often end up feeling bad because of it, like i'm disappointing others. so i thought it'd be good to put together a quick list of things to keep in mind when talking to me:
- i don't do small talk - don't message me just to ask what's up and talk about the weather, it's really overwhelming for me. please only message me if you have something to talk about!
- be direct - don't expect me to pick up on context clues or read your mind; if you want something from me, or something i do or say bothers you, please tell me outright!
- respect my personal space - if you run into me in private groups and spaces, it's ok to say hi, but don't corner me - it makes me really uncomfortable
- there's more to me than what i put online - while i'm open about a lot of things, i'm very selective about what i say or share online; don't act like you know me just because you follow me!
- don't expect much - i'm constantly very overwhelmed and i overthink even the smallest things, please don't expect much from me ;w;
tips on talking to me
- send me an email! - nowadays i find instant messaging pretty stressful and hard to keep up with; if you wanna get in touch with me, your best bet is sending me an email! it gives me time to read what you have to say at my own pace, and then write a thoughtful response without feeling rushed. shoot me one at p@pebb.in <3 if you haven't heard back from me in over 2 days, feel free to poke me again
- there's no time limit on our relationship - don't feel like you need to keep chatting me up to maintain our friendship! i value my friends that i get to talk to once a year as much as i value my friends i talk to daily.
